Regular Artificial Grass Installation
Follow these steps to install your SLC artificial grass and enjoy a beautiful, green, and low-maintenance lawn for years to come.
Prepare the Base
- Excavate the area to a depth of 120mm.
- Lay 60mm of crushed rock/road base and compact it using a vibrating plate.
- Add 60mm of fine blue dust and compact again.
- Level the surface with a screed, ensuring there are no gaps.

Level the surface with a screed, ensuring there are no gaps. The compacted crushed rock/road base should be 15-20mm below the "finished height" of surrounding edging or paving.
Trim to Size
- Begin by laying your artificial grass from one edge, rolling it out smoothly.
- Use a sharp knife to trim any excess grass.
- Remove the "salvage" or black strip from both sides of the grass, as it cannot be used for joining.
Glue Seams Together
- For joining grass rolls, use adhesive tape along the seams.
- Place the silver side of the tape down on the crushed rock/base, with the white side facing up.
- Position the grass pieces evenly over the tape, with each edge centered on the tape.
- Apply pressure to the seams to ensure good adhesion.
Secure the Grass
- Nail down all perimeters at 500mm intervals using flat head nails or landscape pegs.
Power Broom Your Grass
- Use a Power Broom to top dress the grass with dried silica sand fill, evenly distributing it to a depth of 15-20mm.
- A yard broom can also be used to sweep in the sand and straighten the grass blades.
